Discover Marcellina Akpojotor's mesmerising works in her first monograph published to coincide with her solo exhibition "Joy of More Worlds" at Rele Gallery London from April 13th to May 18th 2024. Born in 1989 in Lagos, Nigeria, Marcellina Akpojotor engaged in drawing, design, stencil work, and calligraphy at an early age under her father's guidance. Later, she pursued formal education in Art and Industrial Design at the Lagos State Polytechnic, further honing her skills and broadening her artistic horizons. Akpojotor's art captivates worldwide audiences through its thought-provoking narratives and unique media, creating an aesthetic that mixes politics and intimacy around culture, identity, and feminism. Née en 1989 à Lagos, au Nigeria, Marcellina Akpojotor s'adonne très tôt au dessin, au design, au travail au pochoir et à la calligraphie sous la supervision de son père. Elle a ensuite suivi une formation en art et en design industriel à l'école polytechnique de l'État de Lagos, ce qui lui a permis d'affiner ses compétences et d'élargir ses horizons artistiques.
